1. Meet public health challenges

• By building a "healthcare shield" against animal and human infectious diseases and virally-induced cancers in order to prevent pandemics, epizootics and the risk of bioterrorism
• By proposing inventive approaches to diagnostics, prevention and therapy and delivery systems (preventive and therapeutic vaccines, monoclonal antibodies, programs, etc.) to improve treatment of illnesses as part of a drive for more responsive, more personalized medical care

2. Make local firms more competitive

• By confirming Lyon and Grenoble’s position as the world leader in diagnostics and vaccines
• By developing technological building blocks in order to bring new biological products to market even faster
• By breaking into new fields (cancers, cardiovascular diseases and autoimmune diseases)
