Lyon and Grenoble united in global center of excellence in diagnostics and vaccines.
The Lyonbiopôle competitive cluster stretches throughout the Rhône-Alpes region and more particularly over the Lyon / Grenoble areas, which feature:
- Nearly 28,000 biotech jobs,
- Including 2,500 researchers in the field of infectious diseases
- 4,000 researchers in micro & nanotechnologies in Grenoble.
Lyonbiopôle’s strength lies in the quality of its partners located in these areas, which enable it to cover the entire healthcare chain in the field of infectious diseases, from identifying an infectious agent to protecting the population at risk.
- Major corporations:
- sanofi pasteur World leader in human vaccines with a 24% market share
- Merial World leader in veterinary products
- bioMérieux Co-leader in bacteriology
- BD World leader in the medical and diagnostics spheres
- SMBs and start-ups:
- Transgene, Therapeutic vaccines and immunotherapies
- Protein'eXpert, European leader in the production of recombinant proteins
- EUSAPharma, Innovative medicines the treatment of rare, life-threatening diseases
- genOway, Production and commercialization of transgenic models
- Flamel Technologies, Expertise in polymer chemistry
- Genopoïetic, Innovative cancer treatments.
- Scientific, academic and healthcare stakeholders: :
- in Lyon, IFR Biosciences Laboratory, Ecole Normale Supérieure Graduate School, Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University, WHO, Jean Mérieux Biosafety Level 4 Laboratory, Jean Mérieux Biosafety Level 4 Laboratory, French National Institute for Medical and Healthcare Research (Inserm), French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), Lyon Civil Hospitals (HCL) and others....
- in Grenoble : French Nuclear Energy Agency (CEA), ESRF (European Synchrotron Radiation Facility), European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), NanoBio, Joseph Fourier Grenoble 1 University, Grenoble University Hospital and others...
- The cluster is actively supported by the French State and local authorities, who mobilized from the very beginning of the project.
Lyonbiopôle also works with local public partners, most of whom are part of the LyonBioAdvisor network. These include Aderly, Créalys, Grain, the Lyon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ARIST-CRCI, Arteb, Rhône-Alpes Génopole, Gerland Technopôle, Cancéropôle Lyon Rhône-Alpes (CLARA), ERAI, AEPI, Adebag, and BioVision.
