Biography

Bernard Mandrand

Bernard Mandrand, graduated from Lyon and Heidelberg Universities, received his Ph.D. from University Claude Bernard of Lyon in Biophysics and Biochemistry.

He was hired assistant professor in Paris University in 1974 and joined bioMérieux in 1976 to create the immunochemistry laboratory. He launched several non-isotopic diagnostic kits in the fields of infectious diseases, biochemistry and hematology.

Bernard started and run between 1988 and 2003 the Joint Unit CNRS-bioMérieux and associated bioMérieux laboratories at Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon dedicated to research activities in molecular biology, virology and polymer chemistry.

In 2001, he was the first appointed President of Apibio, a spin-off of bioMérieux.

He is currently Scientific Director of bioMérieux .

In 2005 he was nominated Scientific Director of Lyonbiopôle.

Specialized in bioanalysis and infectiology, he co-authored more than 80 publications as well as 50 patent applications.
