In its initial phase, the Infectiology Center, is a more ambitious project in the heart of the Campus Charles Mérieux and within the CPER 2007-2013
In this second phase, the project of an Infectiology Center II, wants to go a step further and should benefit from the platform call launched by the State and the Caisse des depots et consignations on October 2008.
This future platform, called acCInov for "ACcelerate the "Centre d'Infectiologie" in order to better inNOVate", could emerge in 2013. It will be dedicated to R&D in the field of biotechnologies. It will host R&D projects involving public and private sector, and technical platforms managed by SMEs (new or emerging) that will provide services in the field of biological analysis and biomanufacturing. The new center will be funded, either by the private sector, either by the State and the local authorities (Rhône-Alpes Region, the Rhône County Council and Greater Lyon).
It will be located within the Campus Charles Mérieux which aims to become a unique global place in terms of excellence, expertise and critical mass of science able to compete with the best worldwide research centers in biosciences, especially in the field of viral infection. Fit into this side of the Lyonbiopôle‘s Infectiology Center, the following partners: INSERM, the Foundation for Innovative Infectious Diseases (Finovi), Institute of Functional Genomics (IGF), the French national institute for research in computer science and control (INRIA).
