Jean-François Mornex

Vice President of Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University

Jean-François Mornex, M.D., PhD, spent two years at the National Institutes of Health (Eli Lilly international fellow) before being hired as University Professor and Hospital Practitioner in 1991.

 

For this double appointment, he teaches pulmonary medicine at Claude Bernard Lyon University and is in charge of the lung transplant program at Louis Pradel hospital, Lyon Civil hospital, where he also takes care of patients with either frequent (lung cancer) or rare diseases (pulmonary hypertension, alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency associated emphysema).

 

He is director of the research group "retroviruses and comparative pathology" focusing on the pathogenesis of retroviral infection of small ruminants.

 

Vice president for research at université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 since 2003, he is member of the boards of Centre Léon Bérard, Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire de Lyon, and of recently established scientific foundations: Finovi, Synergie Lyon Cancer, Neurodis and Centaure ; he is or has been member of the scientific councils of Hospices Civils de Lyon, Etablissement français des Greffes, Inserm and Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon.
