Executive Director of the Laboratory for Macromolecular Engineering at the Institute for Structural Biology (CEA; CNRS; UJF) in Grenoble

Thierry Vernet got his PhD in molecular biology and biochemistry in Strasbourg (France) in 1981.

He moved to Canada for almost 15 years to work in Ottawa and Montreal for the National Research Council of Canada on microbial toxins and protease engineering.

He is now head of the Laboratory for Macromolecular Engineering at the Institute for Structural Biology (CEA; CNRS; UJF) in Grenoble where he works with his collaborators on the biology of pneumococcus with a particular emphasis on the analysis of the mechanisms of cell wall synthesis and resistance to beta-lactam antibiotics, bacterial division and the role of virulence factors.

His laboratory hosts the RoBioMol platform of automates dedicated to high through put molecular biology and recombinant protein production in collaboration with Protein'eXpert SA, a biotech company located in grenoble.
